Thoroughly Complete your Google My Business Profile
Google My Business is a free tool for local businesses that allows you to input the information about your business that searchers see on google maps. Among other things, you can specify your address, business hours, type of business or service, and add photos of your location. Having a completely filled out profile on Google My Business often results in a new business immediately showing up on Google Maps when people are searching there for their type of service.
What’s more important, though, is that on most local business searches on Google, 3 results from Google Maps are shown above organic search results. This often means a business is able to get to the top of their local search engine result pages simply by having a thoroughly filled out Google My Business profile.
Get 5 Reviews on Google ASAP
That’s not all, though. Once a business gets 5 or more reviews on Google, a yellow star rating is shown below their google maps listing. As searchers’ eyes are drawn to graphical points of interest on search engine result pages, having the 5 star graphic underneath your listing results in greatly increased clicks to your profile, even if your profile is not the top listing.
For a customer to review your business, all they need to do is google your business’s name, and there will be a ‘review’ button on the right hand side of the screen.
These are the first two things we recommend businesses do when they come to us looking for more business from Google. Fill out your My Business profile completely, and make sure you have at least 5 reviews there.
